Melissa Smith is the Chair, CEO, and President of WEX, leading the company’s transformation into a global financial technology leader. Since joining in 1997, she has held various leadership roles, including CFO during the company’s IPO in 2005, CEO in 2014, and Chair in 2019. Under her leadership, WEX has grown from a U.S.-based fleet card provider to a global B2B payments company, with revenue tripling from $818 million in 2014 to $2.55 billion in 2023. WEX now operates in five continents and employs approximately 7,000 people worldwide.
